What are the terms requested by publishers?

1. Terms and Conditions of Use

Access to the resources available on BibCnrs is reserved for researchers working in CNRS laboratories (whether paid by the CNRS or other organizations) as well to doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers in the same laboratories.

According to the licences subscribed to with publishers and resource providers:

users may:

  • digitally display the licensed elements,
  • search, print, download and save articles which are part of the licensed elements for their own personal use or for the purpose of study and research except for downloading or saving whole journal issues which is prohibited,
  • save parts of the licensed elements on a digital device for their own personal use or for the purpose of study and research,
  • download data resulting from their searches,
  • download and save single copies of records contained in the online resources for the purposes of information, teaching, research or scientific study,
  • download and print articles for their own personal use and save contents on their own personal computers,
  • print copies of extracts from the licensed elements for the purpose of study and research if they are authorized users.

users may not:

  • acquire any property rights on data or parts of data supplied in any form whatsoever,
  • delete or modify authors’ names or a publisher’s copyright references or any other means of identification or legal notice which are included in the licensed elements,
  • systematically download or save copies of records contained in the online Resources to resell, redistribute or use for continuous searches. It is forbidden to save, print, publish or distribute any document for commercial purposes,
  • systematically or regularly download all or part of the products to create a digital or print collection of documents,
  • upload or distribute any part of the licensed elements on another digital network from the secure network,
  • copy, duplicate, redistribute, send on, publish, transfer and exploit the databases and their contents on a commercial or other basis, notwithstanding any authorizations included in the present document or in recommendations to users made by copyright holders ,
  • combine documents from the digital products with other documents, or in any way create derivative works using any format whatsoever, because the copyright holders have exclusive rights to create derivative works based on the works belonging to them,
  • downloading and printing full journal issues or books.

Access to the archives of the publisher Elsevier (“Life Sciences” and “Methods in Enzymology” for the Book series) is authorized for all CNRS units and the personnel working in them except for CEA personnel in these structures. The contract between the CNRS and Elsevier stipulates that these archives are not accessible for CEA personnel. Pending technical developments which would enable this access to be restricted, the directors of the units concerned are responsible for taking the necessary measures to ensure this access is not authorized for CEA personnel.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that systematic downloads which are close to each other in time may lead to access to digital resources on the portal being suspended.

There is a maximum limit on downloads. If this limit is exceeded, the account used to access the resources is automatically blocked to avoid the whole portal being shut off by the publishers.
