The availability of the RETRONEWS resource has been extended until June 15th 2017

We  inform you the availability of the RETRONEWS resource has been extended until June 15th 2017.

Retronews is a media site dedicated to press archives from the collections of the National Library of France (BnF) for the period running from 1631 to 1945. This includes news analysis, headline stories, news stories, press history and pedagogical files.

This service offers powerful work tools to subscribers to run precise searches in the fields of history, literature, science, arts, etc. Users can also save searches, cut up extracts and find out about the frequency of use of a term.

RETRONEWS was launched with the main generalist daily newspapers and will be regularly enriched with new papers from the regional, former colonial and specialist press which will only be accessible through this site.

The site has a high level of editorial input with pedagogical files, articles by historians, journalists or researchers and also daily reactions to news plus the opportunity to (re)discover the press collections from the BnF.

Multiple links to primary sources and expert search and navigation functions enable subscribers to gain more in-depth knowledge of their centres of interest or consult various different subjects thanks to semantic enrichment including the detection of named entities, events, subjects and themes. A search on the frequency of use of a term is also available for users.

You only need to create your account.

One presentation (in French) is available on You Tube.
